Xero Fusion Session

April 15, 2024 | Music

Well I've been cruising at home for the last few weeks and there hasn't been much surf... I got a batch of new boards from JS and was jonesing to ride them. I really wanted to try this new Golden Child model, but it seemed a little soft and gutless for it, so I waxed up this new Xero Fusion JS has cooked up. It's 5'8" 19 2 3/8 and has a nice swallow tail. The concave and rocker are fairly mellow and the deck on this one is pretty flat. I get hit up about what I'm riding and fins quite a bit so thought it would be cool to share a little bit more about boards through some videos.

The Fusion felt really good! I really liked the glide and projection it had over the soft surf this day at Rincon. When the wave stood up, it still felt like the board had plenty of bite and drive to lay it on rail and not over power it. It felt like a really great every day softer wave short board that would work in a pretty big range of waves.... It was super easy to ride and had nice roll rail to rail. It will be interesting to try it when the waves have a little more punch and bowl to them.

I rode it with the JS Large Future fin. I ride mostly the coffin brother fin that Parker and I designed, but in smaller surf and shorter boards, I like the extra drive the JS fin provides. It stiffens my board up a little bit compared to our fin. Hit me up with any questions 🙂
